As distance learning seems to be continuing on, our classroom is gearing up to start summer school! We want to continue to support the students in our classrooms with items that will continue to make them feel a strong sense of community. Our students love completing hands-on type learning. They also struggle with controlling or regulating their emotions. My hope is that these materials will help keep the students regulated, calm, and thriving during this Distance Learning model.
I have included various items for the students. Fun socks to comfort the students, keep them warm, and to be a topic of discussion while with their peers online. Fidget toys can help relieve stress and anxiety. Many students in my classroom are very schedule oriented and right now many of them are struggling because of being at home. These fidget toys will hopefully being some calm to the students while they continue Distance Learning. We have been utilizing live streaming to participate in dancing, art, and storytelling. I would like art supplies for the students so they can all participate in weekly art lessons with Youtuber Wendymac. There are also activity books for physical health and mental health for different levels students. Lastly, I have requested stationary, stickers, and postage stamps. The students in my class all have goals around writing and who doesn't like receiving mail! We are going to use the stationary to send mail to one another weekly.
