An easel is an essential part of a kindergarten classroom. It will be used daily during carpet time for both reading and math lessons.
I teach kindergarten to a wide variety of students. The school I teach at has a very diverse population. My classroom has many different learners with many different learning styles. I have the advantage of teaching students that speak English as a Second Language and these students benefit from seeing materials displayed throughout the room. The easel will help me do this. Our students are also moving to a new school this upcoming school year due to consolidations within our county.
As a kindergarten teacher, I spend a lot of time teaching in a whole group setting. The easel will serve as a visual aid for all of my students to see and learn about new concepts each day. Instead of just hearing me teach a skill, the students will see me demonstrate it as well. In a kindergarten classroom, the students, mostly learn by example. The easel will allow me to model the skill we are working on. Students will also be able to use the easel as a reading/writing station. It is the perfect size for them to use and enjoy!
