The students at this Central California middle school, come from varied socio-economic bkgrnds, from impoverished to the well-off. Our school budget for the Art Department is very small, $4.00 per student. Very few of the students have come from schools that had art integrated into the curriculum, let alone printed in their classes. I have found that printing a design that is their best work, inspires and enlightens the students. They love to see their designs in multiples and to give them as gifts. Unfortunately, we run out of ink and printing blocks before the end of the year and have never been able to buy a printer that allows for more copies of a single design from a linoleum block. Students families would donate money of their own to purchase supplies for classes but most can't due to economic hardships. Our art classes provide a stimulating creative environment with school to work focus.
