I need to make my classroom interactive for my students. Currently my desktop computer is too old to run my Smart Board, so it is only good as a projector screen. Having lessons come to life, where students are up and engaged with the learning by using the touch feature of the Smart Board would be wonderful. Students who are tactile learners need to be able to move the materials they see around, so it makes sense to their brain. Providing our class with a laptop that would enable this kind of learning, especially in math, would greatly improve my ability to teach and my students' ability to understand. Currently we use Eureka Math, a great program, but for our younger students not having visuals of the material is hard (Eureka Math is literacy heavy). Being able to use the Smart Board tools to show student what 4 + 4 looks like and have them manipulate the represented numbers with pumpkins, ducks, etc. Would make the lesson come to life and help connect the lesson to real life situations.
