Students will be reading "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" in 11th grade ELA. I want them to be able to use sticky notes, bookmarks or other note-taking methods as they read and have their connections remain with the book as they read. Often they have to share a book and are not able to keep their connections in the text.
Branching out into new texts will encourage students to be engaged in their learning. With limited resources, students often have to share copies of a text. Students deserve to have a copy of the class text for them to put sticky notes in to take notes or bookmark important pages for their reference.
