As a homebound special education teacher working in the homes of my students, my parents and I are partners in education for my students with various disabilities. The majority of my parents and students are unable to leave their home for medical reasons. I'm constantly thinking of ways to provide resources for my students and their parents.
It is vital that my students receive exposure to digital reading programs! Some of my students are on hospice care, and it's my responsibility as their special education homebound teacher to make sure their minds are stimulated through reading and that they are making progress. The reading programs will also provide opportunities for my parents to provide support and engage with my students through reading.
My heart smiles every time I see my students engage in reading programs. The smiles, vocalizations, and arm stretches indicate their love for reading and learning. Prayerfully, we will find a donor willing to sponsor my students' learning in their homes because the support is needed to provide a quality of education for our medical fragile student population.
