We are changing much our first grade ELA curriculum into small guided reading and literacy groups. So I'll need to create several centers in the room to address both this change - and our highly active learners! We plan on a reading center, writing center, word work area, and listening center, in addition to the small group working with me. These centers will support early literacy to build strong foundational reading skills. These center areas will also be used to support their math skills at a separate time of our day. The slightly varied seating style will help differentiate each area for students and better meet individual needs.
