Books are a great way to present topics to elementary school children in classroom, group, and individual counseling lessons.
It is important to me that the books used in counseling sessions are reflective of the diverse population of the school.
The school shutdown has been challenging for our students as they depend on school for consistency and connections. Upon school reopening, our students will be coming to us with a variety of needs and we will need to help them work through their feelings of grief, stress, and anger. These diverse social emotional books will allow the students to see themselves while learning how to process their feelings and identify healthy coping skills. Returning to school after the COVID-19 shutdown is going to be difficult, but these resources will help empower our students.
