We are in need of a classroom rug that will help provide the students with a place to come to during morning meeting, calendar time, whole group math/reading lessons, and a soft place to read and grow their academic and social learning. I currently have been using tape to make shapes on the floor to show them where to sit. With COVID-19, my classroom will look different. For safety, I am to distance my students and this will provide an alternative learning space for their safety. Educational Rugs provide not only a home base, but a way to gage personal space and reinforce social interactions. These first grade skills are essential in leading to understanding politeness, personal space, and sharing.
Your donation to this project would help my classroom have flexible seating and give my students a space to call their own when they sit on the floor for lessons when returning this fall. The more comfortable they are, the better they will learn.
