Now, more than ever is there a need for children to have access to quality, diverse literature. Our youngest learners need to see themselves, their families and culture reflected in stories. This project will help make sure that there will always be a wide variety of diverse children books available in the classroom.
The books that I included discuss: defying gender roles, showing compassion towards others, tell stories of children in a variety of cultures, and celebrates characters of color. These books will be available everyday to the children. We will use them during small group and large group lessons. Having a large collection of diverse literature will allow for conversations about acknowledging our similarities and differences and overall how to show kindness towards everyone.
