Coming into a brand new classroom in a brand new school can be challenging. There is no resources upon your arrival, no adaptive manipulatives for your special ed students, and not much funding. I am hoping to get ahead of things and get my class together from the start in the interest of my student populations. The items that are in my cart are all meant to serve a purpose. Many things of different colors to help student differentiate different materials in the classroom. The resources, especially the academic workbooks, that were added in the cart are directly catered to the level of my students. Many of my students suffer from sensory overload and need quiet breaks thus the bean bags and sensory toys are great for the students to escape to while also deescalating themselves. The shelving with the wheels are important to always be able to move furniture around due to behaviors and limitations of students. I carefully scanned and chose materials that were adaptive, or can be easily made adaptive. I want to provide a classroom that has multiple alternatives to make sure each of my students can receive an equitable opportunity. I want my students to be able to LOVE coming in my classroom and be able to leave every single day with new knowledge and new experiences that they can take outside of the classroom. By donating to my project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
