As we transition back to classroom instruction or a "hybrid" model, I want to start out the year with literature circles with novels in verse around identity and culture. These novels will be an engaging, fun way to start the new year to get kids reading again!
Students love book choice and small reading groups, and these focus on varying cultures and teenage issues.
Novels in verse are a new genre to most students. I can teach poetry, figurative language, and students will engage because of the teenage issues and cultural differences represented.
