With the addition of We are Water Protectors and Fry Bread, my students will learn about the Native American culture. Stories like I Am Human and The Invisible Web, will be used as read alouds and restorative circle discussions. The story, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind and Be a Maker, tie in with our STEM Fair projects.
Our team does a project each year where students research an American who has made a difference in our country. These books will introduce them to "new" individuals, such as Lonnie Johnson, Philip Freelon and Raye Montague.
