These diverse books will help to foster a culture of reading and learning within my classroom. Students will be able to choose books that they will enjoy during their independent reading time. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more. By having books that are of high interest I know that my more reluctant readers will become engaged. All of these books were chosen with my students in mind, tapping into their unique interests and worldviews. My students are interested in books that reflect their perspective as well as show them others that they might not be familiar with. I already know what creative thinkers my students are, and this project will help expand their experiences with literature.
