Flexible seating helps students take charge of their own learning from the get-go. It is important to give students choices throughout the school day. They need to feel power over their own learning, and getting to choose where to sit during independent practice helps them develop the ability to believe in their choices.
Students believe more in their work when they are given the choice of where to sit, what to work on, and who to work with. Giving them this choice strengthens their belief in themselves and gives them the opportunity to build the strength of character they will need to make choices in the future.
