My students will not use these materials directly, but rather, will have a stronger teacher of reading and writing! These resources will provide me with a repertoire of teaching points that will help me differentiate and target the needs of my students. The way these authors have written their books is very clear and provides guidance on how to implement and modify the lessons. I will be able to support reader and writer independence in whole group, small group and 1:1 conferences. The language I will use to teach will align with the language of our writer's workshop, which will help readers make the reading and writing connection, rather than viewing skills in isolation. Readers will read to themselves everyday, read with partners, and write about their reading.
