We are requesting books rich in diversity and kindness to support their learning and develop connections to the world. In our first grade class our read aloud time together is one of our favorite parts of our day. We engage in deep conversations about life and how we can impact the world to make it a better place for everyone. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind and how I can offer my predominantly white students opportunities that promote conversations about diversity, inclusion, and kindness. As a classroom teacher, I can foster learning that impacts future generations and reaches minds beyond our small community.
By donating to this project, you will be supplying my classroom with a variety of fiction and nonfiction books which will engage learners in conversations about inclusion, books about understanding differences, and books that expose students to a variety of cultures that will leave a lasting impact.
