Students love being read to no matter how old they are. Using picture books for read alouds with quality literature allows me to teach reading and writing strategies through engaging stories, model meta-cognitive strategies, and ignite conversation. These meaningful conversations connect students to literature and each other. Picture books are an excellent vehicle for addressing social emotional learning for young learners. Picture books help students to connect with others and process emotions and feelings. By reading a new picture book every week, I can help students navigate through these difficult times.

About my class
