This isn't news to most people, but reading has a profound impact on each person's life. Repeated studies show that those who read are more empathetic, and we need that now more than ever. Building empathy is so important to me, that I spend 60 dollars a month on books to add to my classroom library. However, spending over 700 dollars a year on books is challenging to keep up with financially.
Help me provide books for my students to build understanding in our world. My students come from many backgrounds and experiences. My students of color deserve to be represented in the texts they read, and all of my students benefit from learning about a variety of experiences.
