Last school year many districts made the transition to remote/virtual instruction for the last nine weeks due to the pandemic. It was a challenge teaching young students remotely. The district I work for did not have enough laptops or hot spots for all the students. This made it very difficult to check in with students via video call. We prepared packages for students that included a bag with manipulatives, books, Math/ELAR board games, and paper handouts.
The resource bag came in very handy for students and parents. The handouts were not enough as we had prepared for three weeks of remote learning. I plan to use the requested resources to put together an individual resource bag/box for students this upcoming school year. This will include counters, a spinner and dice for Math and ELAR board games, a whiteboard with a dry erase marker, and an eraser. I will be printing/laminating cards and station materials. Regardless of how this school year starts (class on campus then transfer to remote or vice versa) the students will be prepared.
