A large portion of the 8th grade common core standards revolve around graphing and analyzing graphs of linear equations, functions, and bi-variate data. In order to successfully master these skills, my students must be able to accurately organize information into graphs and tables. Unfortunately, too much valuable instructional time is lost with students trying to draw and accurately plot points on lined paper.
This may seem like a small thing, but by giving my students the ability to quickly and accurately create graphs, it will free up time for them to develop deeper conceptual understanding. In addition, the whiteboard graphs will allow me to quickly assess student understanding.
