These math games will address all the 3rd grade math standards. The games will provide extra support and extensions to their learning. The math games will be interactive, collaborative and hands-on. The games will challenge the students to use skills they have already learned in multiple scenarios. For example, one of the games directs the students to draw pictographs, bar graphs and line plots to represent data. An example of a project based learning activity asks the students to design a quadrilateral city while learning about the various shapes in Geometry.
Organization of these games is key to time management and successful use of learning time. Having easily accessible and organized materials will help the students obtain and take charge of their own math learning. Using games and project based learning reaches many different types of learners in fun and interactive ways.
