Kindergarten can be overwhelming for children. For some, this is the first time they are away from home and parents for an entire day. They no longer have an adult to themselves but have to share the attention of one teacher with 20 other students.
It can be difficult for a 5 year old to find the words to describe what they are feeling or why they are feeling it. Sometimes, even adults just need a place to be able to escape to for a short time to deal with the emotions or just take a moment to breathe.
The children's tent, pillows, and blanket give the students a comfortable place to escape to when they are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or stressed. It is a spot in the classroom that the other students know not to intrude upon when a friend is in there. I will be able to monitor the spot and help the students when needed.
