I am excited to build a community of independent learners and create a supportive and peaceful environment for my fifth graders. This is my second year of teaching elementary school! My school is a Title I school, meaning 40% or more of the student population qualifies as low income. The percentage is closer to 60. My students have a great attitude and a love for learning! When they dive into a great novel, it takes them places in the world that they may never get to experience.
It is my goal that students in my classroom love reading and love discussing topics with their peers. I love using reading circles to listen to students perspective on different subjects. Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus is an amazing book about a young girl who faces many challenges in her life. It will be a great way for my student to hear about different walks of life. It is amazing how students interpret things differently and how passionate they feel about reading and writing. If need be, I will be able to create a virtual reading experience with material from Teachers Pay Teachers if we have to continue remote learning! I would love to use different resources from TPT to enhance the learning of each student!
