Our goal is for all of our middle school student to develop the social and emotional skills needed in our every changing world. It is my goal to use these books to help students understand the importance of not only developing in content areas but as young adults in an every changing society.
Students are faced with many challenges in the world today and books like The Coffee Bean will provide opportunities for students to work through problems they will encounter with teachers who have real life experiences.
The lessons provided to students and teachers enable lessons in all content areas to be enhanced for deeper connections and understandings of required TEKS. In addition, information in books like Make Your Bed provide additional extensions to curriculum mandated by the state of Texas. We will also incorporate these books into our Response to Intervention (RtI)program to help students who are struggling with learning and/or behavior and help to provide services for students needing additional support.
Lastly, the goal of books like these will be to create a lasting culture geared to develop students and young citizens who will positively contribute to society during and after their time at our school district. We want to be able to have a common vocabulary among teachers, students and staff that provides a safe and secure opportunity for discussion to stimulate learning.
