"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." Nelson Mandela. My school district has put an emphasis on making sure that our students within our community feel safe, welcomed, loved, and supported. These are all extremely important for our students to be successful in the society in which we are living. Through my project, my goal is to create that safe environment through weekly lessons including the books presented in the project.
I want my students to be able to hear and see their teacher read the books virtually and look at the pictures of books created that highlight how to have a growth mindset, how to be inclusive, how to build a community, and how to view virtual learning. By including these books I am able to have resources that second graders love to read and a way to be more interactive in my virtual lessons as well.
These books will be extremely helpful in providing me the opportunity to be successful in the approach and goal I have to make sure that each child in my classroom feels safe and able to learn.
