This year, I will be working with a group of curious, joyful, resilient first graders. Despite the challenges that their kindergarten year brought, these students continued to learn and grow. I know they will bring that same energy into our first grade community!
Our elementary school is located in one of the most diverse zip codes in the United States. Many of our families immigrated to Seattle or arrived here as refugees from countries all over the world. Nearly all of our students come from low-income backgrounds; this combination of racial diversity and financial hardship means that our students have traditionally been forgotten or underserved by the educational system. I want to change that narrative, and with your help and support I know that my students will be able to thrive!
