The books listed in this project are books reflecting the beautiful diversity of our students and our worlds. I refuse for my students to receive the message that "You don't belong here," or "Your existence is rooted in struggle," in the lessons I teach or the books my students have access to.
Good books can be mirrors in which we see ourselves or windows to help us more clearly see others. Representation created accessibility and I want my students to know that they are valued and can actually be anything they can imagine. Help me create a classroom community centered on cultural competence.
