As we all know, literacy is imperative. With that, reading about someone who looks like you, thinks like you, has a family like your own is so impactful. Growing up, children read great stories, but a lot of children like myself do not get to hear many stories with characters like themselves. Cultures, stories of pride, strength, and not always being recognized as 'different' is rare inside of a classroom library. My classroom library will be different. Inside my class, these books will celebrate my students' diverse lives. Your donation can change the narrative for young readers; let them be the hero of a story and let them see and learn about different cultures. Diverse books are a necessity for today's and tomorrow's generations. Please help me change the way we shop and teach by using a diverse set of books.
