Last school year was traumatic for students and teachers alike. I was tasked with creating engaging and diverse lessons and videos for my distance learning counseling curriculum. I was creating weekly videos, video conferencing with parents and community partners, and virtually counseling and offering support to my students all on my phone due to limited resources. I did my best to bring awareness, education and inspiration through presentations and activities for our entire elementary school but I could have done so much more with the right tools!
When this project is funded, I will have the tools I need to effectively create curriculum and material that is designed for my diverse school community.
Students deserve to see themselves in their curriculum. This project is a part of #ISeeMe, a larger effort to help all students see themselves in their learning environments. I hope to bring this need to the attention of other administration and teachers in my district.
