I'm hoping that by collecting class sets my students will be able to engage in novel studies together on their units and our distance learning will be more engaging. Project LIT is a new program I am bringing into our facility and I'm working to focus our reading on authors of color as often as possible.
By supporting this project, you'll be helping me to ensure that each pod unit can individually choose the novel they'd like to study together and each student will have their own copy to read while we are in distance learning due to coronavirus. Teaching in a youth detention center in the Denver area, my budget for supplies and books is incredibly small and there's no way that I can supply this much in resources to my students alone. Donors are directly supporting my students who are in need of books to peak their interest both in reading as well as in school.
A book can turn a person's life around and that's all I seek to do with my students each and every day.
