In following the news and current guidelines for reopening of schools, it seems as though there is a very high chance that we will be teaching remotely at least part of our upcoming school year. This means students will be doing at least some learning from home. I would like to be prepared for this.
In my classroom, students engage in hands on learning experiences. Students learn by doing, which means they need access to hands on materials.
In anticipation of the strong possibility that remote learning may be part of our school year for 2020-21, I would like to put together At Home Math Tool Kits for each of my students so they can be successful when learning remotely. I do not want my parents to stress about having access to the right materials for their child to participate in our remote learning sessions. These Math Tool kits will provide students with the hands on math manipulatives they need to solve problems, help make abstract ideas concrete, and build their confidence. I feel will these Math Tool Kits will also encourage more active participation in our remote classroom.
