One of my favorite things about a new school year is meeting my students, seeing their eager faces as they enter our classroom, and embarking on the learning journey that will take place during the school year. Developing a relationship with my students is my main priority. Empowering them with knowledge and facilitating meaningful instruction are some of my other top priorities. Although this school year will inevitably pose new challenges compared to years prior, I am optimistic that we will be able to develop those meaningful relationships and learning experiences despite the circumstances.
As I reflect on how to achieve these goals, there is one tool in particular that I believe will help my students and I have a successful school year together: a document camera. In a traditional classroom setting, I have seen first hand how students benefit from visual demonstrations as well as auditory presentations. Having this Document Camera would allow me to demonstrate (in real time) mathematics and reading material. It will help bridge the gap between virtual and in-person learning by allowing me to project the step-by-step instruction that I conduct from home. I feel blessed to work with students who are eager to learn and tackle these new challenges together. I think I speak for both my students and I when I say how grateful we are to any and all contributions towards our goal.
