Part of my teaching style is incorporating a lot of visual representations of the concepts being learned. I find that many students benefit from connecting the concept to a physical representation and making that connection helps retention of information. It seems that this is particularly true with Science. In my experience, I find that Science is better received by students if there are visuals and hands-on components, like experiments. Each of these models is correlated with different concepts my 5th graders will encounter in the 2020-2021 school year and, even if remote learning for us comes to fruition, these models can still be beneficial to student comprehension.
