The students in our class don't have the supplies that they need. As a result of Covid-19, our students are even more needy due to lack of funds at home. This means that we are buying more supplies for our students and the more expensive things are the first to go. Unfortunately, these are usually things that make learning more fun. When students write, they like to illustrate their work. Paint is more fun than using crayons and brings an element of novelty to the project. Also, research writing is better when you can have the benefits of a complete word processor like Word instead of the Docs. Our school district has predominantly chosen Chromebooks instead of laptops. The consequence of this is the lack of support for software development as more software becomes available online. This has lead to apps that are not as good as the software installed in a laptop. With a new laptop, our students will be able to research and write their findings. We will be able to stream short video clips and communicate via video phone with students isolated at home because of coVid.
