Before COVID 19 hit our country, my classroom was warm and cozy and students sat comfortably on couches and gathered around kitchen tables eagerly waiting to learn. My classroom served as an environment that was welcoming and conducive to learning, and one that provided a sense of safety and belonging.
Now, social distancing means students and teachers wear masks and plastic shields, and the students will sit farther apart than they did before. Students will now eat their lunches inside my classroom. Having tables will help give my kids the space that they need to learn. Even though this year will be quite different as far as seating arrangements, my students will still be provided with a positive classroom environment.
