Given the difficulty of having students access and navigate online learning, I'm trying to bring a pencil and paper back into the equation. Students will submit their work to me each week by dating detailed notes in their composition books (that the school has already gifted to them) and using their colored pencils to enhance their notes or models. They will take pictures of these notes with their smartphones and upload those images to our Google Classroom to "turn it in."
I will also be gifting each student with an acrylic prism that they will use to design their own experiment to learn more about the properties of light. For example, does the prism make a rainbow when you shine a light on it? Can it make a rainbow with light from the sun when it is being hindered by the smoke in the air (we are based out of Hayward- air quality has been poor for the last few weeks due to the fires)? Thanks to your help, my students will be able to investigate these questions for themselves!
