My students and I will be returning to school face to face next month. Although students will be in the music room, due to social distancing and COVID-19 concerns they will be unable to participate in the activities they enjoy the most while learning, such as singing, playing instruments, and moving. With younger children, these activities are very important in learning and development, plus most children learn better using a hands-on approach. By giving each child his/her own instrument kit comprised of 2 dowel rods for rhythm sticks, a filled plastic Easter egg for a shaker (maraca), a bracelet of bells and movement scarf, they can still play instruments, learn, create, make music and have fun while staying safe. These kits can also easily be used by my special needs students so they will still be able to participate as well.
