This school year my functional Life Skills students will not have the opportunity to participate in community based instruction to practice their functional skills. I need to create even more opportunities in our classroom for my students to work on these skills while also ensuring we are following safety guidelines. I have some money and money activities but we need more. I am focusing on money skills every Monday making it "Money Monday". I want to make sure my students can independently understand the concept of money and can be an independent consumer.
My students will need to practice their functional skills in as real a setting as I can create with the challenges of this school year. These materials are high interest, low level, and will really help my learners. They will give us skills to work on while we can't go out in the community. They will also provide me the opportunity to send home items I already own home so that they practice at home as well. It also gives me the opportunity to make sure all the students I see for Functional Math have his or her own supplies and we won't have to worry about sharing.
