At school, we provide a peace corner where students can go to calm their nerves and reset their brains when needed. Within this space, students are able to use different tools to help them remember to breathe correctly, to help relieve stress, and calm down if upset. During this unpredictable time in their life, school is not the only place students are feeling stress or anxiety. Seeing how effective a peace corner is at school, I want to help make a peace corner at home a possibility.
Through this project, students will be able to bring home their own peace corner. Students will be able to take home kinetic sand, a pinwheel, a mandala coloring pack, a stress ball, and a glitter calming jar... all things we use in the classroom. These are tools students are familiar with within the classroom to help support their social and emotional needs; so now they will be able to have them at home as well.
