I will utilize the child-size yoga mat and lap desk for students to be able to learn from a space other than the traditional desk. I plan to vary time during the day from working in the traditional desk space to learning time based on the yoga mat. These will allow students to move and be more comfortable when they are to be in one stationary space for the day. I picture students using the mats for independent reading time, listening to read aloud, online work time, art time, and self-regulating movement or stretching out. These mats will be essential for many, as many are not able to sit still or in one position due to developmental ability, physical needs, and/or behavior challenges.
