As the school year will start with the distance learning model, I'm sure our students are extremely disappointed that they will not have that beginning of school in-person experience they have been anticipating. They will not get meet their new teacher face-to-face, new friends, or walk walk into their classroom. I will not be able to greet them at the door. Regardless of the circumstances, I want my student's first school experience to still be engaging and get them excited about their lifetime of learning that lies ahead. The students at our school come from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds. Our diverse community includes: apartments, condos, and single-family homes, all walking distance to our neighborhood school. Some students have supplies available, but many students are lacking the necessary hands-on tools, books, art resources, and school supplies to allow each student equity and access to the at-home learning we hope to provide.
