As students return to school in the midst of COVID-19, many families for the students in my classroom will be left without funds to ensure their children with school supplies necessary for learning. With the way schools have been set up to receive students for in-class learning they need an option to stay safe while having supplies at hand as well as having enough materials to prevent sharing while following CDC school guidelines. My students will use these items to help protect each other. Each child will have a chair pouch with items they bring and items from the list held within its pockets. This will also help as the students will not need to get up and move around the room invading social distance spacing. Dry erase boards and markers will be used for activities that will allow the students to not have to transfer items between other students and teachers. This is important to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in school. The erasers and pencils will be used for standard school work when assignments are on computer or notebook paper ensuring each child has more than one pencil and an eraser to write with in the event that a pencil breaks, becomes dull, and an eraser is completely used on the end of the pencils. They will be used for students to fill out journals and other activities. Construction paper will be used for various activities such as map making for math and science, and crafts for art or writing assignments. It is crucial that the children have enough items so the kind act of sharing does not put them at risk.
