Over the last year we have seen a drastic change in learning in schools. Early elementary students need hands on learning experiences. When schools switched to digital learning last April our youngest learners we at a huge disadvantage. Even if they did have technology at home, research shows that these young students need to be engaging in hands on learning.
In my kindergarten classroom we do lots of making letters with play dough, making words with magnets and manipulating blocks and other objects to work with math skills.
This became very hard to do for students that do not have these objects at home or as we are being asked in schools to not share supplies / toys. I am trying to create a individual supply crate and literacy center /game binder for each student so we do not have to worry so much about sharing supplies and they will be able to work at home with these individualized kits if we have to go back to at-home learning.
