This past school year took an unexpected turn when our lives were impacted by COVID-19. Schools were forced to close and students finished the school year at home. This was heartbreaking for teachers because we worked so hard on building relationships and meeting our students educational needs. I would love to implement flexible seating in my classroom this fall. I honestly feel that this fall would be perfect timing to introduce flexible seating due to social distancing guidelines.
Being a teacher I know that no two students learn alike, and it is my job to give students the tools so that can be successful. Over the years I've introduced Hokki Stools to my students. Students rotate using the stools or they could get a pillow and sit on the floor. It's a satisfying feeling to see that your student's learning has improved because they have choice of where they can sit or what type of seat. I feel that giving students the choice will make a difference in their learning. My classroom is diverse with mixed abilities and learning styles. My goal is to have flexible seating options so that my students can be successful in their learning. Please help me give my students the choice to sit where ever they would like to learn for the day.
