In this project, I have requested a multitude of diverse books to add to my classroom. I have added books that I believe will provide a wider range of cultural, racial, and social diversity to my classroom. Most of the books I have requested will be placed in my classroom library for my students to read throughout the year. Students have 25 minutes of independent reading time daily, and I want to ensure that students have books they are interested in reading available to them.
The books should be both a mirror (students are able to see themselves) and a window (students should be able to see others who are different from them). I want to ensure that all my students have windows and mirrors at their fingertips.
