Access to a piano is critical for any music student. A piano allows students visualize the music they are learning on their instrument, and understand how chords, harmonies, bass lines, rhythm, and melodies work together to create music. During distance learning, this is even more crucial. Our students are eager to continue developing their skills on their band instruments, but instruction will be limited due to the pandemic. That’s why providing students with economical, quality keyboards is necessary to continue to develop their talents. By purchasing these keyboards, you will be clearing a barrier to a young person becoming a musician, story teller, and culture creator. These keyboards have built in speakers, so they can be played immediately, and they also can be connected to a computer, for easy recording and arranging. Our students will earn access to these keyboards by demonstrating respect for the class and their classmates. Should students want to keep their keyboard after they graduate, they will have the opportunity to fundraise and work to buy it from the school. Once they pay for it, the school can replace it. This will teach the students about agency, responsibility, and hard work, as well as create a steady stream of quality keyboards for our students to use for years to come.
