Imagine a classroom where students sit at desks six feet apart and only access materials that are in their desk (no shared materials). Students are not allowed to go to music or library or even go to the computer lab. In addition, the teacher does most of her teaching as a whole group from the front of the room. How is a teacher expected to keep students engaged in this environment? How are students allowed to learn at their own pace? Yes, the students will have workbooks and some differentiation materials and the teacher will create a fun and motivating educational experience as best as she is able given the circumstances. However, with a classroom set of computers, the educational experience would be more fluid and dynamic.
A classroom set of computers would give each student the opportunity to access materials that are developmentally appropriate to the needs of each individual. It will allow students to access online materials such as leveled readers, information such as nonfiction data for reports, online games such as math puzzles and problems and tools such as word processing or presentation programs. This access is essential increating an effective learning environment. Please help! Your donation will be GREATLY appreciated!
