My team teacher and I seek to introduce our kindergarten students to science through the scientific method and explicit hands on materials. We will use the materials in 6 kindergarten classes on a rotational basis. These materials requested align with our Standards of Learning.
We want our students to become experts at exploring their world
through science. In Kindergarten, we explore the life cycle of humans, butterflies, and frogs. The students will use the Life Cycle Sequencing Kit with the objective to be able define a life cycle and explain the stages of life cycles. The students will view videos and pictures of the various life cycles meanwhile their learning will be enhanced as they touch and manipulate the real life models of the life cycles.
Our kindergarteners will use the Can Do Magnet Discovery Kit and the Magnetic Match Rings to investigate and understand that magnets have an effect on materials, make some thing move without touching them
(attract and repel) and have useful applications in simple machines. The students will see and explore these concepts in real life through our lessons.
