The "Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" novel is a book that will be used in a unit that we will study through the Louisiana Department of Education. The other books were chosen based on the events going on in the world today as well as books about teenage life. It is very challenging to get a student to read in today's society. If I can provide my students with books that they relate to, I can not only get them to read, but also focus on opening up topics in their lives that they can relate to or may have questions about.

About my class
